Finally, Microsoft releases Office Mobile for iPhone, a light package of their full Office 2013 edition, well, not really. I am very excited though! However, there is a catch.. you must have an Office365 subscription to be able to use it.
Key Features:
Access documents from virtually anywhere:
* Cloud – With your phone, you can access Office documents that are stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint.**
* Recent Documents – Office Mobile is cloud-connected. The documents you’ve recently viewed on your computer are readily available on your phone in the recent documents panel.
* Email Attachments – You can view and edit Office documents attached to email messages.
At the moment Office Mobile for iPhone is pretty limited, in terms of editing and formatting documents. For example, one thing I’d love to see is to be able to save as PDF.. wouldn’t that be something?! I do a lot of quoting as save my Excel spreadsheets to PDF for customers. Not sure how useful that would be on the go, as the screen is tiny, so I guess we have to wait for an iPad version. If it’s even coming?
I do love the fact that you can access SharePoint documents from the app which makes it a lot easier for me to see all documents while being out and about. Before I had to manually go to sharepoint.com and login with my credentials, find the document, then find the info on it that I am looking for.. sounds exhausting.. doesn’t it. Plenty of time saved now!
